Why Accurate Corporate Tax Filing Matters
Every active corporation has to file a T2 return within six months of its fiscal year-end — even a year with no income. Get it wrong, and the cost isn’t just a resubmission: it’s penalties, interest, and a CRA file that starts asking more questions than it should.
Done right, filing does more than keep you compliant. A properly prepared return captures every deduction and credit your corporation is actually entitled to, so you’re not leaving money on the table just because a form was rushed. And when your numbers are filed accurately and on time, you know your tax position months in advance instead of being surprised by it at year-end.

Expert Guidance for Canadian Home Sale Tax Matters
![]()
Alex has been so amazing! I sold my home shortly after moving to the UK on a temporary visa and it was so stressful navigating the Canadian tax system. Even from afar – across the world, Alex took his time walking me through what I need to do, advised me on next steps, and how he can help me through calls on Whatsapp and email. I received the letter I needed from him to proceed with the closing of my Canadian home sale. Thank you so much to Alex and the team for your guidance and help! I appreciate it so very much 😊.

FAQ’s
Frequently Asked Questions
When is my T2 corporate tax return due?
Six months after your corporation's fiscal year-end, even if there was no income or activity for the year. Every active corporation has to file, with no exceptions for a quiet year.
Is the filing deadline the same as the payment deadline?
No. The balance owing is typically due earlier — two months after year-end for most corporations, three months for CCPCs claiming the Small Business Deduction. It's easy to file on time and still owe interest because the payment deadline passed first.
What happens if I file late?
CRA charges a penalty on any unpaid tax, plus an additional charge for every month the return stays outstanding — up to a cap. If CRA had already issued a demand to file, the penalty is higher. On top of that, interest accrues daily on any balance owing.
What documents do you need to file my corporate taxes?
Your financial statements (or bookkeeping records if statements haven't been prepared), your prior year's T2 if this isn't your first filing, and any CRA correspondence you've received. We provide a checklist so nothing gets missed.
Can you fix a return that was already filed incorrectly?
Yes. We file adjustment requests for prior-year returns and can carry losses back where that recovers tax you've already paid.
How long does it take to prepare and file my T2?
Once we have your documents, most returns are completed within one to two weeks, depending on complexity.
Do you handle GIFI coding and the corporate schedules, or just the final numbers?
We handle the full return — mapping your financials to the correct schedules, reconciling accounting income to taxable income, and making sure the return holds together the way CRA's system checks it.
Can I file my own T2 and just have you review it?
Yes, though most clients find it's simpler and less risky to have us prepare the full return from the start, since a review after the fact can only catch what's already there — not restructure something that was set up incorrectly.
What if I haven't filed in a few years?
We can help with catch-up filing across multiple years, including any available relief for penalties or interest where circumstances support it. The sooner this gets addressed, the fewer compounding penalties you're carrying.
Will you claim every deduction and credit my corporation is eligible for?
Yes — reviewing for unclaimed deductions, credits, and loss carryforwards is a standard part of preparing your return, not an optional add-on.
Can a corporate tax accountant file both my personal and corporate taxes together?
Yes — we regularly coordinate corporate and personal filings for owner-operators, since how you're paid out of the corporation affects both returns.
